Using Google Chrome’s address bar for the example here I’d like to talk about encryption on websites for a second. In the image you’ll notice the top address bar is green while the one below is yellow and might look like the security of the encryption has been compromised.
As you can see here the address is exactly the same, so why would one be yellow and possibly unsecure. This happens when you view unsecure content over a secure connection, which can compromise the connection itself. The reason this happened here on Facebook is because I clicked on a video from an outside source which is not secure, by simply refreshing the screen you’ll re-establish the secure connection and have it green again.
This doesn’t mean you’ve been compromised at the same time it doesn’t mean you haven’t, with so many hackers out there today looking to exploit stuff it’s hard to tell. Basically you’re taking a gamble so hopefully it’s worth it, flash has also released an newer version of its player recently due to security holes found in previous versions of its player that could allow a hacker to take full control of your computer. I highly recommend you get their newest version installed on your computer ASAP and also make sure that you’re downloading it from their site and not some other one masquerading as them.
