This is not the first time I’ve heard this and sadly we could have this type of technology even sooner as we don’t need Nano technology but rather can use existing EEG headsets, which are already reading our thoughts and displaying them on monitors. Sure it might not understand everything we think or imagine but the technology is advancing more and more, early models already fly drones so why wouldn’t future models just around the corner be able to interact with us. Have a question in your mind, like magic the internet answers it and nobody’s the wiser.
The ethical questions are? Can someone take control over my mind by hacking it? What about Artificial Intelligence, will we become like the borg controlled by a central unit? What does this mean about our soul? If our consciousness can be backed up to the internet, what’s to say it can’t be placed into another body with thought transfer? The list of questions can continue for quite some time and unfortunately/fortunately the answers might be just around the corner. I for one would steer clear but the problem is if it comes in the form of Nano tech, then we might not have a choice as we could just as easily breathe in the tech and not be the wiser…
