The world we live in continues to change, arguably not everything might be for the best. Yes having facial recognition through Facebook can save time tagging photo’s but will this technology remain only on Facebook. It’s more than likely this will makes its way to authorities to pursue criminals but at the same time it’s a bit concerning knowing that a store camera, one on the highway or just an eye in the sky could know your every movement and possibly do it while you cover your face up now as well. Advertisers are probably drooling somewhere as well for the opportunity to tie in our surfing habits with well-placed advertising. Like in the movie Minority Report we might soon have TV’s lighting up greeting us by name and displaying enticing products that they know we are interested in…
Products we are interested in are also taking a turn on Facebook, no longer is a like or a click of the link required if we simply look at something long enough Facebook will know. By analyzing the data, they can tell you who has the most similar interests and who you’d most likely be compatible with. This doesn’t mean a significant other though as it could turn out to be your mother-in-law or father-in-law that has the most in common with yourself…
