CPU

The CPU (Central Processing Unit) of the computer is basically the brain of the computer. It tells every part of the computer what to do. It processes all of the information that other parts send to it. Typically nowadays CPU chips are tiny squares with billions of circuits, and many computers have more than one core to process information going in and out of the computer; which is called multiprocessing. The speed that higher-end (Higher specification) CPUs process information at is around 2.4-3.8GHz; around 2.4 to 3.8 billion times a second! Three manufacturers for computer processors are AMD (Advanced Micro Devices), VIA, and Intel. AMD processors often clock their processors at the optimal operating states – (Highest speed it can go without overheating). Intel processors often clock their processors at a lower speed than the highest speed of operation. VIA only makes low end processors for cheaper computers. The reason that there are only three companies who produce computer processors is because these three companies are the only ones who have the licence to create x86 processors. There are also other processor manufacturers, who make phone and tablet processors. Examples of manufacturers are Nvidia, Samsung, and Qualcom. However most of the manufacturers get their design from the company ARM. These proccessors are usually an all-in one function processor – They control the graphics, math, and memory.
