Expansion Cards

Expansion cards add addition functionality to a computer. Think of it as a gadget that a detective carries around; it would help them function better. An example of an expansion card is a video adapter card, it adds functionality to the computer by giving it superior graphical processing power, allowing it to run the most high-end games and demanding video edits. There are also expansion cards for connecting to the network in your house called NIC (Network Interface Controller) cards. The connectors that are commonly used for the expansion slots are PCI, PCI-E, PCI-E 2.0,and AGP.
