MySQL

MySQL(Named after the inventor’s daughter ‘My’ and SQL(Structured Query Language)) is the largest open source RDBMS (Relation Database Management System). It is a very popular choice of database for developers of websites. Currently, TYPO3, Joomla, WordPress, phpBB, MyBB, and Drupal, are all applications that help web developers do their job and access MySQL databases. MySQL does not have a built in GUI (Graphical User Interface); therefore, the developers had to integrate a program called MySQL workbench in order to get a GUI. As of 2009, 2 different versions of MySQL came out, one is Open Source and the other is a commercial enterprise version.
